The intensity of the staging designed by Johannes Veemer in "The Girl with the Pearl Earring" was the starting point for the composition "E depois do olhar". The composition is sustained by two moments: the "before" and the "after", by two complementary colors (contrasting between cold and warm colors), two faces of the same character and lines of force doubled inversely. The earring remains simultaneously center of the composition and vertex of a triangle that is structured around an avid look and the sensual lips.
