Seipsum Invenire is a journey of self-discovery in an unknown place. In order to understand my connection to religion, I started going to this church in Rodney Road. In there, I allowed myself to think about what I believe in and how I feel in that particular space. In a way, I allowed myself to discover who I am.
I explored the physical space of the church as a metaphor for the self-examination that I was experiencing. Using words to reify my thoughts, I wrote down all the terms that I associate with religion and my feelings towards church. Family, silence, safety, time, respect and meditate are some of the examples. Then, I photographed the church with those words in my head, looking for the best way to represent them. The result is a series of eight images.
