Hugo Travanca was born in Coimbra in 1981. Graduated in Fine Arts by the University of Évora and in Communication and Image from IADE, Hugo leaves Portugal in 2012 to become a Master in Artistic Creation by the University of Barcelona.
From very early age Hugo has started to create works from different mediums, and throughout his academic career. specialized his our language.
Hugo says that being artists is almost like an addiction that absorbs all his energy, twenty-four hours per day. He never sees himself in another area. He feels very comfortable during the intensive creative process.
His work and concepts have been more objective and consistent only because he follows the natural course and keeps connected with the life that surrounds him. He works with reusable materials, using cardboard collected from the street as support for his works on painting and drawing, because it has a unique plasticity and relation with oil and acrylic paints.
