Painted with rapid brushstrokes, primarily in shades of brown and orange, this painting evokes the warmth of family as well as culture. I met this elderly woman on a trip to Greece and took her photo as she was giving us a loaf of freshly baked bread. She reminded me of my grandmother who was so generous and always offering food. I composed the words on the painting to reflect this feeling. It says, "Like my grandmother - twinkling eyes, an outstretched hand. "Come", she said, "Take this bread."
