Witchcraft was a piece I created in Portugal at the Beekeepers artist retreat in may 2017. Inspired by an ongoing fascination with magic and the occult, this work was created during an D.I.Y ceremony and is as much about the final image as it is the process of creation. Hidden behind the final layers of acrylic and varnish are multiple layers of paint, mud, saliva and a number of other natural materials that at one point were present. The figure has finally been exonerated, and now has time to breath, but not without the memory of a potent journey.
