This landscape was first painted at plain air near Sankt - Petersburg. Painting outside is challenging due to the fugitive light and constantly changing atmospheric environmental conditions. Although plein air paintings are prized for their spontaneity and freshness, one of the best ways to learn the art of plein air is to be organized and deliberate. Painting in nature helps me understand what I need to know about atmosphere and the real truth of the location. Combining studio work and Plein Air painting bring completeness to my life as an artist that is simply unsurpassed. Later the bigger studio painting has been done on the base of that plain air one. It shows a field road with birch trees in the evening light in the end of summer.
