Nuno Silas's artistic practice references Mozambican identity and the cultural heritage of African history in intersections of art with politics, technology and post-memory. Nuno Silas's elaborate, photographs large-scale multilayered sculptural artworks and performances, his works are informed by personal, collective narratives, and synthesised points of the cultural dynamics. Silas is an interdisciplinary artist and curator; his practice involves experimental installations, photography, short films, sound, performances, and paintings. Nuno Silas was born in Maputo, Mozambique, and lives between Germany, Mozambique, and Portugal. He holds a BA from the School of Arts and Design Caldas da Rainha. He is a PhD Candidate in History and Philosophy of Science, with specialisation in Museology, at the University of Évora, a IHC (Institute for Contemporary History)
