This is a figurative kind of a portrait. I found the image of the seagull in a family album and felt a connection to it. As a theme it represents for me my tendency to the small unimportant details of life. The realistic / impressionist approach is form of trying to catch the moment, even though the moment had passed long ago. Like an intent to give a new life to a static image. I was inspired by both painting movements of the end of the 19th century. I still find them relevant nowadays, in the era of fast consuming of images, and fast ways of creating images.
