This is a part of a series of variations on a theme: an accumulation of pink stuffed animals (unicorns). As a theme, I was interested in the kitsch and artificial connotations, as well as of the capitalist culture. But my focus was on exploring the possibilities of the colours, the contrasts, the brushstrokes, etc. The Painting is in the end abstract, and the composition matters more than the subject. Thematically I was inspired by the Pop Art movement, and technically, by painters who merge figuration and abstraction, such as Cecily Brown or Dana Schutz.
