This work belongs to the project titled 'Swimmers'. This project explores the concept of joy and pleasure through old photographs of swimmers from the 1920s to the 1950s. Their scenarios refer to an atmosphere of summer and well-being. The appropriation of images and the mixing of other media is one of the main concerns in the work process. There is a deconstruction of the old photograph of the past toward something new. On the other hand, throughout the project I explore autobiographical questions that reflect my identity. I practice swimming and my routine is part of the research process. The representation of the patterns of Portuguese tiles in the paintings is a way of emphasizing my identity and my Portuguese nationality. The tiles are also an allusion to an element that belongs to the architecture. A physical space is generated and with these elements I intend to provoke a harmonious relationship between the image and the painting.
