The constant interest in a simple, concise and authentic language leads me to approach Painting as an autonomous and self-sufficient reality. In the space of each painting, the shapes and colors present a pictorial dynamic that only refers to itself. Through the process, the colors mix and intertwine on the canvas surface, through countless translucent overlays.
The line and geometric grid that guide the chromatic construction do not determine it. Within this pictorial stage, the particularities of each color defy the formal relationships of each Painting. The composition results from a dialogue between the artist, shapes, and colors, that extend over space and time, in a continuous succession of reflections and actions.
With a Masters in Painting and a degree in Fine Arts, branch of Painting (FBAUP) I have a great appreciation for the pictorial work of Ângelo de Sousa, Josef Albers, and Ellsworth Kelly.
