This piece is part of the series of work entitled "Eyes - Nose - Mouth", in which the face is reduced to its essential elements, taking advantage of the micro-expressions of non-verbal communication to convey an emotion or idea.
Another aspect worked in this particular piece is the association of certain physical characteristics with cultural stereotypes, passed to us by art and cultural representation. Therefore, Nubia refers to our idea of the look that people would look like in the Old Egypt.
The choice to use clay and other similar plastic materials not only allows a certain freshness of the final work but also the inclusion of the artist's gesture as an integral part of the pieces. Also, the use of old traditional materials, like wicker and ceramic, in new combinations and forms prompts viewers to reflect on the validity of technological evolution.
