It is a psychological fact and a moral virtue. As a fact, it is the conformity of acts and words to the inner life. As a virtue, it is love or respect for the truth.
Being in good faith is not always telling the truth, because we can be mistaken, it is at least telling the truth about what we believe. It is what is called sincerity and the opposite of lies, hypocrisy, duplicity, and in short, all forms of bad faith.
To point out the truth to the one who did not ask for it, to the one who cannot bear it, to the one who tears or crushes, is not good faith, it is brutality, insensitivity and violence, because the truth does not replace everything.
Good faith does not forbid silence, but lying to others and oneself.
Virtue without good faith is bad faith and is not a virtue.
