“Selfie lixo I” (Trash selfie) was the first painting in a series of small acrylic paintings and paper works with dry pastel chalk that started personal research on the photographic index, digital image, and noise in painting.
The work is based on selfies by the artist herself. A selection is made of the photos that would normally be discarded due to low resolution and distortion. These are precarious images that are finally used as a reference for painting.
Some influences are in the works of Gerhard Richter, Andy Denzler and Jens Hesse, as in the texts on photography by Roland Barthes, Philippe Dubois and in Donna Haraway's post-humanism.
