Leonel Cunha (Gondomar, 1968) currently lives in Vila do Conde. He graduate in Fine Arts-Painting in 1995 at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Porto, having been fellow of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in the academic year 1994/1995. In 2005, he held the Postgraduate Diploma in Multimedia Technology, Faculty of Engineering, University of Porto. In 2012, he completed the MA in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Porto. After completing the course, actively worked on painting until mid-1999. Between 2006 to 2011 he worked almost exclusively in digital media using software to generate images and animation. He returned to the practice of drawing in mid-2009 and resumed painting in mid-2012, with the completion of the master degree. Since 1995, Leonel Cunha teaches basic and secondary education; since 2009, he is also guest assistant in ESMAE (School of Music Arts and Entertainment), in the course of Communication Technology Multimedia.
