There is no independent reality, just as there is not an absolutely unknown look. The myths of the innocent eye and the absolute data are terrible accomplices. Having discarded the recovery of forms, however, there is a way of conjuring reality, of reaching its presence in its indefinable totality, using the metaphor as a diagram and an inner center of restlessness, as a place of ceremony.
