The work of this self-taught painter stems from the observation of nature and in particular the vibrations of light. The places where he works as well as the seasons, are therefore of paramount importance. He admires Mark Rothko, Pierre Soulage and the impressionist artists. He is also inspired by physics and philosophy. It follows that his abstract works play on the expression and the depths of field and let the materials express their own plastic richness. Through the practice and appropriation of artistic and craft techniques, he has built up a vocabulary immediatly recognizable, sometimes unconsciously. He proceeds notably by successive layers, which by transparency relate to an ever-present background. This support, whether paper or canvas, is worked, worn, in reference to a kind of archaeology. Working in series ensures continuity in his approach, while producing a great variability of works, which are often punctuated by a strong gesture.
