Fernando Gaspar explores design considering colour stains as secondary elements.
During his creative process, that consists in writing small scripts, the artist aims to study the relationship between color and shape. Layer by layer, sometimes opaque sometimes transparent, he carefully hides elements while revealing others.
Fernando works with large blocks of colour: blacks, through which appear grids, machines and other charred structures spattered with stains of colour that emancipate from ridgidity. Apart from his design and paintings, which reminice great pictorial affinity in Júlio Pomar, Fernando Gaspar started to explore sculpture after developing a series of works related to the question of migration and terretorial limits.
"My works are not always easy to empathise with, nor should they be. They never are flat planes. Occasionally there is weight that the paint and the brushstroke silence. This is why I write about them; to make sure they are constructed, perviced, opened”.
