As a student of painting, I tend to focus on the outer layer of the objects I make and admire. I try to map the surface of an object by revealing the particularities which define it. This process can be compared to cartography, palaeography or archeology - it is the search for a humanity mirrored in a physical object. Even though I act upon it today, the canvas has an evocative quality that reminds us of an ancient or maybe primitive form of understanding, which, paradoxically, is yet to come.
Born in Lisbon, I lived most of my life in Braga and sporadically in several African countries. I have now finished my bachelor’s degree in painting in the Fine-Arts Faculty of the University of Lisbon.
