Ivan Postiga (1991) was born in Póvoa de Varzim and has a master's in Fine Arts - Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto.
In terms of thought and artistic practice, his interest in painting has centered around issues like the operationalization of subversion of thought strategies, associated with a kind of "gesture automatism". Build by using symmetries, the author's visual production comes close to the notion of "ambiguous image", induced by the irrational principle of collage that brings together in his authorial gesture a series of blind, automatic and dysfunctional behaviors.
"It is this game of violent deconstruction of thought that becomes the principal generator of this drift (...) in the aesthetic territory of an experimental unconscious, where the shape is chewed, folded, twisted, torn and, finally, thought, as an weightlessness that invents and experiences itself, in an impersonal gesture and chance of a random result."
