Her photography often presenting the invisible gap of silence that falls in between memories and remembrances, the translucence and the absences.
Lena Wan’s work focuses on ordinary things and everyday situations. She is strongly drawn to capture the fragile and fleeting essence of objects, people, events and experiences, the gaze to move beyond the mundane and reflect upon the concepts of existence. To photograph "a glimpse in passing," often conveys a sense of the transient.
She intends to allow the viewer to place the images into their own imaginations, to allow the viewer to engage intimately with her seeings.
Lena Wan with a half Chinese and half Portuguese family background, she was born and raised in Hong Kong. Lena has a degree in Cinema and Television, but later she went on to pursue photography and is currently completing an MA in Multimedia (photography) at Fine Arts University of Lisbon.
