The ‘London Art Fair’ is the major contemporary art fair of the United Kingdom and one of the most important of the entire world. The 27th edition of the art fair that took place between the 21st and the 25th of January, brought great names of British art from the 20th century, as well as contemporary art pieces from talented emerging artists, to collectors of every level.
This year’s edition was constituted by 128 stands which belonged to modern art galleys of the UK and international galleries from Milan, Paris, Toronto and New York. Besides the main fair, there was also an area dedicated to new galleries on the first floor (‘Art Projects’) and for contemporary photography (‘Photo 50´). The ‘Art Projects’ section intents to show contemporary art from around the world with large scale installations, individual and collective showings, viewings of movies and experimental video works. The ‘Photo 50’ area, assumes itself as an exhibition space for the most interesting and distinct elements of recent photography organized by a guest curator. On this edition, Sheyi Bankale was chosen to curate the exhibition which was named ‘Against Nature’.
With conferences, films, tours and performances, the environment of the ‘London Art Fair’ is absolutely inspiring for art lovers and reaffirms London’s statute as the capital of the global art market.
The 2016 edition has already a date! From the 20th until the 24th of January, you have the opportunity to get to know the best of modern art from around the globe. The tickets will be available for sale from September this year.
Regarding shair, we have no excuse for not going back next year. It was definitely a very inspiring visit and a great way to see what is new (and not so new) on the art market. We strongly recommend!
