"Estudos III" is an etching realised on reused, damaged and scarred zinc. The lines are deeply etched, almost corroded by the acid, which ultimately emphasises the inherent violence of the metal engraving process. The image itself is almost autobiographical, as if it were a self-portrait, representing my hands as an artist, the hands my parents gave me, as the appendage that externalises a thought or a will. The hand that reflects latent emotions on its surface. The hand that bites its nails, that carves metal, that creates the work and destroys it.
