Ana Mesquita was born in Mozambique in 1967. She graduated in Design and post-graduated in Journalism. She was a journalist for twenty years.
She returned to her artistic essence in 2012, starting a series of solo exhibitions, in Portugal and abroad. She is a visual artist whose work varies between digital drawing, video art, directing, painting murals, collage composition and creation of sets for musical performances.
She composes abundant palettes of colour in delicate or vigorous strokes, which result in apparent patterns, with overlapping planes and transparencies, transmitting messages that are almost always figurative, as if they were an artistic text.
She was a guest artist at Serralves and the Cerveira Biennial and has public works in the municipalities of Oeiras and Cascais.
She sees art as the most pedagogical way of expanding mentalities, opening frontiers for the future.
