Catarina Machado was born in 1975 in Porto.
Graduated in Architecture by the University Lusíada of Porto (1993-98) it is also post-graduated in Contemporary Art by the Catholic University in Porto (2006-2007). Catarina is painting teacher in the S.N.B. atelier since 2005.
Since 1995 Catarina Machado has participated in more than 190 festivals, biennials, solo and group exhibitions.
Her artworks were also represented in international contemporary art festivals, namely ARCO 2002 & 2008.
As a curator, Catarina organized more than 40 exhibitions, including the biggest collective of street art in the North of Portugal "Mural Rua da Lionesa" in Leça do Balio (2014).
Her artistic language bring us back to the idea of the lines generated by the rhythmic undulation of the sea, through the creation of clash and chromatic environments as well as the ephemeral lines drawn by the maneuvers of a surfboard, made by the surfer slides when the walls of water formed by the waves of the sea. Ellipses are a constant in his work since 2000. The sea is her greatest source of inspiration.
