Pedro Figueiredo´s sculptural work, though figurative, moves away from the representation of the real, referring to a universe of feelings or circumstances where associations are free, which is only possible when talking about Art. It is a sculpture in part conceptual because their bodies - at first sight "human" - are images of concepts that the artist partially reveals through the pieces’ titles, sometimes almost mystical and mysterious, sometimes easily relatable with the form we see. But not totally conceptual, because here the idea and the concept are not what matters the most.
Resorting to simplicity, disproportion, and distortion, he presented us with exaggeratedly vertical or horizontal figures, based on basilar feet or hands that stand out from the rest of the organism due to a gigantic and something primitive presence.
His artworks are mainly executed in polyester resin, bronze, and ceramic stoneware.
