Rafael Oliveira was born in Guimarães, in 1996, city where he lives and works.
The human and material condition goes hand in hand with his work. Representative of a frenetic, ever-changing world, it presents dark and intense scenes full of violence, fear, sadness, and abandonment. The absence of the human figure in most of his works is a synonym of the fatality of the earthly life.
The incessant search for cohesive compositional structures, for a harmonious colour combination, of gesture as a dictating force, is something to be retained and considered in the reading of his work.
Graduated in painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto, his work was part of numerous exhibitions and art prizes in various institutions, including, in this context, the distinction of the Tapeçarias Ferreira de Sá Grand Prize, in the 5th Bienal Internacional de Arte de Espinho.
