“I don't know if it was the painting that discovered Miguel Ruben de Mendel or if it was the artist, the author, who discovered himself and has been discovering in it. The fact is that we are dealing with a self-taught person of rare virtuosity and sagacious spirituality. The first thing that seduces us is the palette: full of light, vibrant colours, which are wrapped in gold that is smudge and contour. With an expressive path, clearly of a surreal tendency, there is in his compositions an imaginary that goes between the theme of the sacred and the subconscious, but attentive, observation of everyday life. The artwork because each one sees himself in it and because the artist is ambiguous enough to be able to create strong and sensitive forms. It is an ambiguous and sensitive painting, honest and loyal. In it, we identify figuration, but it is the abstraction of what it represents that makes us enjoy it.”
