Improvisation by Ballet Cymru dancers Gwen and Krystal, experimenting with poses derived from slow, deliberate movement in my painting studio.

The picture is monochrome, and painted on a heavy flax stretched on a deep stretcher. I was very happy with the composition - particularly the harmony between the geometry created by the figures and the movement implicit in the poses - and later developed it into a much larger larger painting, 120cm square. It is part of a series featuring these two dancers.
