Strongly inspired by anatomy and the history of medicine Lucy Pereira rescues and appropriates images belonging to a 1960s medical magazine. In "Pranchas Anatómicas" there is an attempt to almost revive states or conditions of the human body, but in this case, they are part of her imaginary universe. As we understand and study our body has developed a lot throughout Humanity. At a certain time, wax models were one of the many techniques used by anatomists to transmit knowledge, educate and attract a wider audience. Oscillating between veracity and creation Lucy Pereira is influenced by these wax models. There is a reflection on our weaknesses and mutations trying to talk about the elegance and brutality that is manifested in our decline and how we face our mortality.
