Black series is part of a homonymous project in which the artist, through a primary palette (yellow, blue and red), builds visual metaphors on a black background. Author with imagery and aesthetic autonomy, Sobral Centeno – artists closed to the 1970 neoexpressionismo – in this work brings back multiform crosses, stairs, masks, characters and abstract compositions playing with each other on symbolic values construction. Those can be analysed in the light of contemporary anthropological and sociological circumstances – obsessions, myths, memories...
