The images from South Silent series result of a process of discovery began in 2005, the pre-Saharan transition landscapes of Morocco and Algeria. It is both a wonder to the inhospitality imposed on men and animals, but also a deep appreciation for the tireless efforts of these, to claim the right to live and survive in these parts. The images document faint traces of a fight, we do not want to recognize as ours, against the slow progress, but inexorably, the great and immense Sahara. An interaction where men and deserts are fighting the occupation of vast areas of nothing. The battle for survival is still possible here, though condemned to a certain outcome. The desert just waits until the exhaust removes to men the will to fight. On that day, the victory will belong to the desert.
hese images were exposed for the first time to the public in “Encontros da Imagem” festival in Gallery Pedro Remy in 2010 (Braga, Portugal).
