Zélia Mendonça (b. 1957) resides in Brazil and meets art at the age of 58, in 2015. That year she participates in a group exhibition in Paris, winning second place by the popular jury. Since then, she has not stopped. Whether in Brazil, Spain, Austria, United States, France, England, Italy, and Portugal. In these years, she passed by public and private museums, galleries, and other cultural institutions with such a creative profusion. Her presence in contemporary art in Portugal is also recurrent, as in the Bienal Internacional de Arte de Cerveira. Self-taught and restless, after participating in various actions in favor of the community, she received the title of doctor honoris causa in 2018 from the Research and Extension Center of the Instituté Libre Des Sciences de L'homme de Paris, Faculty of Sciences and Arts Lauro Freitas, Educational Institute of Portão (Bahia) and associated Human Rights Defense Council.
