Jimmy the Bull: The story of a divorce that aroused the desire to draw
Rafael Mantesso’s third decade birthday party was not the usual cliché: the surprise party arranged by his wife, with all his friends opening bottles of french champagne, was a mirage. Instead, Rafael’s wife dumped him! “She left only empty walls and my dog Jimmy Choo.” But what seems to be the beginning of a sad story changed his life forever.
Having just Jimmy Choo and empty walls as company, his desire to draw awaked after years.
While his friend took photos of Jimmy jumping and running around the empty apartment, the un-recovered divorced man has created a series of hilarious illustrations, reflecting his Bull Terrier dreaming about shoes, chilling on the couch next to a glass of martini or even masked as cow. All the illustrated photos are posted on his Instagram profile, which has more than 270k followers.
Jimmy Choo best illustrated photos are shown in a book, “Jimmy the Bull”, available on Amazon.
From anonymity to stardom
The whimsical drawings of Rafael quickly became viral in global media and caught Sandra Choi’s attention, creative director of Jimmy Choo (the brand). Sandra was so delighted with the designs that challenged Rafael Mantesso to produce an exclusive series for Jimmy Choo draws to decorate a limited edition of bags, purses, iPhone cases and dog collars, the Capsule Collection.
