Open call: Sony World Photography Awards
Applications for the world’s biggest photography competition are officially open, in a special edition that celebrates the 10th anniversary of the initiative. The Sony World Photography Awards distinguishes, annually, the world’s best photos, attracting both emerging and already established photographers to share their most powerful images.
Photographers can submit their photos, for free, at any of the four competitions: ‘Professional’, ‘Open’, ‘Youth’ and ‘Student Focus’. Registrations must be done at the recently relaunched website www.worldphoto.org, now more intuitive and practical.
Besides prestige and networking, the prizes for the winners of the best photographs are, as it should be, extremely exciting:
. Sony’s latest digital image equipment;
. Participation in Sony World Photography Awards Exhibition (London);
. Participation in Sony World Photography Awards book;
. $ 25,000 (USD) for the ‘Photographer of the Year’ winner;
. $ 5,000 (USD) for the winner of ‘Free’ category.
In 2016, Sony World Photography Awards registered a record of 230,103 entries from 186 countries. The title of ‘Photographer of the Year’ was given to the Iranian photojournalist Asghar Khamseh.
