Statue in honour of the Roman emperor, who lived between 63 BC and 14 AC, and founded Bracara Augusta in 16 BC. The period during which Octavian Caesar Augustus ruled, was one of peace, prosperity and expansion and was known as the "Pax Romana".
The work of the Spanish duo is located where the ancient forum of the city once stood, is made of fibreglass, and is a reproduction of the one discovered in 1963 in the Villa of Augusto, Prima Porta, becoming known as "Augusto da Prima Porta". The emperor is depicted in military attire and armour, in an allegory of the conquest of Hispania and Gaul.
It rests on a pedestal that bears the words “IMPERATORIS CAESARIS AUGUSTI DIVI FILII PATRIS PATRIAE”, that is, “Emperor Caesar Augustus Son of a father god of the fatherland”.

João Pedro Ferreira Airosa (1836-1931) was ordained priest in 1859 and celebrated his first mass at the altar of Our Lady of Piety, in the Sé Primaz Cathedral. He dedicated his life to social solidarity, having created in 1869 the Casa D'Abrigo, named the Monsignor Airosa Institute 100 years later, in his memory. The institution welcomed women and the bust, in bronze, was commissioned to be erected, precisely, by former students and represents the founder with ecclesiastical garments.

Bartolomeu Fernandes (1514-1590) was born in Mártires, Lisbon and died in Viana do Castelo. In 1528, he joined the Dominican Order and at the end of his studies, he was ordained a priest, reconciling religious life with teaching. Between 1559 and 1582 he served as Archbishop of Braga. Recalled as an example of benevolence, D. Frei Bartolomeu dos Mártires was declared venerable in 1845 by Pope Gregory XVI and beatified in 2001 by John Paul II.
Sculptor Hélder Carvalho created this bronze statue, which represents him with the Bible and the Crosier in one hand, while he greets with the other. The robust granite pedestal on which it stands was designed by the architect Gerardo Esteves.

With an installation and dialogue character with the squares and streets of this place in the historic centre of Braga, where the Book Fair has been held for some years, this artwork is a panel of tiles in polyptych by João Alexandrino aka JAS, produced at João Carqueijeiro's atelier. In the year that marks the 25th anniversary of the dst Literature Grand Prize, an initiative that has been rewarding Portuguese authors of prose and poetry since 1995, the dstgroup and the zet gallery wanted to celebrate with the city, the importance of culture through one more proposal of art in a public space, which democratically promotes the experience of contemporary art and books. The invitation to this artist was motivated by the capacity that we recognize him to show, through his expressionist, tribal nature and with figurative references, the symbolic power of the object-image in its communicating relationship with the public. JAS integrated the titles of all the winning books of the editions of the dst Literature Grand Prize in a piece with a memorial and retrospective nature of the adventure that the dstgroup has made happen in the exercise of building its corporate identity and in the way it sees itself acting in the polis. JAS chose to keep its palette and its pictorial alphabet, affirming the coherence of its visual production, a condition that makes it globally recognizable.

Francisco Sanches was born around 1550/51, in the territory of the Braga diocese, and died at the age of 72. He was a philosopher, mathematician and physician nicknamed "sceptic" for contesting Aristotle's philosophy and scholastic knowledge. He tried to define a new ideal of knowledge, showing the fallibility of the senses and denouncing traditional methods. The statue, in bronze, was made by the master Barata Feyo and represents Francisco Sanches next to the church (São João de Souto) where he was baptised. The body stands out due to the garment, the head appearing small. In the hand that falls, along the body, he holds a book, while the other is on his chest.

Isaque Pinheiro is one of the most outstanding sculptors of his generation, a maker and a transformer of the materials with which he creates illusions and ironies. In this work, two rectangular and irregular stone blocks, placed vertically and parallel to each other, are joined by a tube that simulates a perfect round arch in the Roman manner, evoking the city's history. The tube and the washers, which connect it to the stone blocks are also in granite, which highlights the effect of manipulation of the image and materials that the artist likes to use.
