Ruben Lança looks to his work to see how it, through the medium, manages to give meaning to images that turn out to be incomprehensible. The reality of transmitting the inner world through the impossibility of embodiment leads to different degrees of imperceptibility of the pictorial plane, whether in the human figure, the landscape or the surrounding space. The threshold between abstraction and figuration is both a need to search for essence and a liquid suspension in its own sphere. The pictorial construction assumes a character devoid of sequential narrative.
"Passion permeates the pictorial field, which expresses itself in movement, light and uncertainty.
The works emerge from the imagination and remain there, like traces, indices that need to be veiled, suspended and guarded. They must remain incomprehensible, unable to assert themselves. To be free and wander through their own existence." - Ruben Lança
