The "dissection" of the "toile de jouy" results in a set of characters, objects, and ornaments applied to painted surfaces.
The "piscina vazia" is the protagonist. Human construction whose geometric rigidity loses all reason for being without the presence of water. This absence turns the pool into a "non-place", a kind of tombstone, a playing field, a blank page where we can project our ghosts, anxieties or fictions. In these works, the canvas (ancestral support of painting) claims the foreground and the raw, immaculate fabric appears as a pictorial stain.
Embroidering is going from the surface to the inside. The back and forth of the needle reconstitute the weft and the fabric emerges from the painting.
