THREADS - Constructed on wood panel Threads is built up multiple layers of oil and enamel. I then screen print on top of the layers in reds and blues. Mesh patterns and lines criss cross to create colour patterns much llike a woven fabric. The varnish that insulates the layers becomes a relective gloss surface. Each layer when applied of oil and enamel paint is sanded generating a smooth finish. Using a grinder I then cut awayat the surfave mimicing the patterns from the print. The final layers are built up with veils of varnish and threads of oil paint in white and blue. The painting achieves both a depth and glossy surface. The surface and the reflection fabricates a dialog between the painting and the viewer.
