Helena Cardoso (Porto, 1940) is a designer and artist.
In 1987 she joined the project "Professional Training of Women", organized by the Commission of the Feminine Condition (CCF) in which she created and formed the groups "Against the Cold" (wool) in Relvas, "Capuchinhas" (burel) in Campo Benfeito and "Lançadeiras" (linen) in Picão.
Collaborating for more than 30 years with women in the deprived regions of Portugal, alerting to the condition of women and contributing to the preservation and continuity of traditional knowledge, has diversified her artistic work by the partnerships she has established both with artisans of the textile area but also with ceramists, goldsmiths and other masters and artisans.
The artist lives and works between the city of Porto and some villages in the north of Portugal.
