Joana Sá Cabanelas escapes reality through painting. However, that same reality haunts her route. She paints as she sees it, neither black nor white, but something between several layers: light and shadow, affectionate and aggressive, ethereal but nonetheless concrete.
She works mostly with watercolour, acrylic and black/gold pen.
She was born in November 1987 in Porto, where she lives and works. She is a Product Designer and Visual Artist and has a degree in Product Design from the Escola Superior de Arte e Design de Matosinhos (ESAD) and attended the Politecnico di Milano in Italy and a Masters in Art and Design for the Public Space from the Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade do Porto.
