Born and raised in Paris, France, from Portuguese origin, Jean Paul Alves Moreira moved to Portugal as a teenager. He lives and works now in London where he has recently graduated with a MA in Fine Art at CSM UAL.
Regarding thematic, medium and style, his work varies regularly depending on phases, situations and contexts, which he considers the most important factors that influence him.
Absurdity, deadpan comedy and uncanny non-sense are aspects that often characterize his work. Not as much as means of entertainment or subversion, but mostly as strategic tendencies used to challenge established systems of thought, perception and normality.
When it comes to choices of mediums Jean Paul Moreira’s work doesn’t tend to be restricted to any particular one even though it is the collage as technique that often inform his creative approaches, this within the line of Dada and surrealism, Pop Art or bricolage.
