This contest, which is destined for people over 18 years old, has the purpose of stimulating the artists to develop portraiture on their work. The participants until 30 years old get automatically on the run to the “Bp Young Artist Award” although the same participant cannot win both awards. The selected artworks will be exhibited at theNational Portrait Gallery.

Prize:

BP Portrait Awards – £30,000

BP Young Artist Award – £7,000

 PORTO CARTOON WORLD FESTIVAL

The ‘Porto Cartoon World Festival’ launched two themes for this year’s edition of ‘Prémios Especiais de Caricatura’: Cristiano Ronaldo who has just won his third Golden Ball, and the winner of the Nobel Prize of Literature, Ernest Hemingway. Besides works about the main themes, participants can also submit other cartoons on a free theme.

Prize: €4.000

The “Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian” is granting support to projects on the fields of Visual Arts, artistic professional structures, Portuguese artists, and international artists that are living or working (regularly) in Portugal. The deadlines to apply vary according to the moments of realization of the projects.

Deadline: 8th of February to the 30th of September, according to the dates of the realization of the projects.

PRÉMIO NOVOS ARTISTAS FUNDAÇÃO EDP 

The “Prémio Novos Artistas Fundação EDP” is back for another edition. With the purpose of supporting new creations and emerging values of contemporary art, this prize intents to distinguish visual and plastic artists with a recent career. Portuguese artists living or not in Portugal can apply, and also international artists that are living in Portugal.

Prize: The finalists will integrate a collective exhibition at the Museum of Electricity. The winning artist will receive 20.000€.

Galp energia challenges national young creators to give a new look to the way their products are presented to consumers. Simultaneously, the brand launches the “Concurso de Arte”, the “Concurso de Publicidade” and the “Concurso de Design” so that, individually or in groups of two or as micro-companies young people presente new and creative concepts. On the “Concurso de Arte” and on the “Concurso de Design” they will be looking for interventions/new image for the Galp’s butane gas bottles. As for the “Concurso de Publicidade”, they will be looking for the best storyboards for advertising videos about the Stores Tangerina.

Prize: Between €3.000 and €5.000, plus the opportunity for two young advertisers to go to the “Cannes Lions Innovation”.
