Fields began from a blue reverse print on Fabriano paper. I was working on a landscape painting with enamel, oil on wood panel. I began to look at the structure of the pictorial surface. I took away paint away paint with a cutting tool to reveal the wood panel. I then cut the print into fragments and integrated it into the painting as collage. The idea of deconstructing and constructing a tactile surface came alive. The built up layers and fragments play with textures that create new patterns.
