Faceless figures, in absurd situations, common people, living in an ignorant society are all usual subjects for Dan’s radiography of the contemporary times.
He focalises on the illusion that the superficial brings to the society, on the mirages provoked by the perception of a deformed reality. Each composition is a strange hybrid between the human figure, the cloth, the gesture and the environment. The colour is treated like a sudden, unexpected intervention, like an accident. That creates action on the protagonist, sometimes inactive and a spectator himself.
His inspiration comes from different photography archives or social media that are modified in order to obtain a new, singular image. These images, out of their original context are than collated in a reference image that serves as base for a drawing or a painting.
