Daniel Xavier uses large aggressive brushstrokes to portray human figures drawing out themes around his own personal and interpersonal reflections with identity and body. Although he starts by sketching his work he prefers to ultimately rely on spontaneity and diverges dramatically from the original sketch. Xavier assumes that the true essence is only possible if you paint emotions with emotion and feelings with feeling. Daniel finds inspiration in Rembrandt, Mathew Barney, Baselitz, Francis Bacon and Jenny Savile.
"I explore my ideology, my thoughts about human intimacy, creating a vision of augmented reality, transposing an inside to an outside in absolute purity”.
