Emre Ozcaylan mainly sculpts fantastic representations of animals and daily objects out of metal that have a powerful visual impact on three-dimensional form.
With his artworks he is trying to get people to realize a deeper sensation about themselves and their surroundings. He is mostly interested in unresolvable issues such as paradoxes, impasses and tangle ups. His main influences are strange animal behaviors that resemble or can be related to human psychology.
He tries to approach sculpture in a ritualistic or mystical way as if it was a language or a religion on its own.
Born in Istanbul, he graduated from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University where he completed his classical art training. He is currently based in Lisbon and continues his professional life as a dedicated full-time sculptor while doing his master's degree in sculpture at the Faculdade de Belas-Artes da Universidade de Lisboa.
His sculptures can be found in both public and private collections in various countries.
